Bomb scare in Delhi: A private school in Delhi's Dwarka received bomb-threat e-mail, prompting emergency response teams to be dispatched, the Delhi Police informed. As a precaution, the school has been shifted its classes online.
Meanwhile, this is the sixth time in the last 11 days that schools in the national capital have received such threats.
Earlier on December 17, few school in Delhi received bomb threats. Prior to that on Monday i.e. December 16, around 20 schools including DPS RK Puram received threat emails.
On December 14, eight schools, including the same DPS RK Puram, had received a similar email, in which the sender threatened to carry out an explosion using "bomb vests," while on December 13, about 30 schools received bomb threats via email, prompting a multi-agency search of their premises.
On December 9, a bomb threat e-mail was sent to at least 40 schools in Delhi which said the bombs, planted at multiple locations, will be denoted if a ransom of $30,000 is not paid. The email claimed that the “small and hidden” bombs have been planted inside the school buildings. “It will not cause very much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate.”
In his letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, he wrote, “airports and schools are receiving bomb threats and drug-related crimes have increased by 350 per cent, worrying people across the city for their security.”
He further noted that as the Delhi Police and law and order are managed by the Central Government, “so proper action and cooperation from your side is very much needed in this serious matter”
Prior to the letter, Kejriwal had also slammed Shah and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is no longer able to handle the law and order situation in the national capital.
