Ahead of Salman Khan’s next big release, the CBFC has asked Sikandar makers to mute the word “Home” from “Home Minister” throughout the film and blur visuals of a political party hoarding, Bollywood Hungama reported.
However, no visual cuts were required, so all action and violent scenes remained unchanged.
Earlier, there was confusion over the actual run time of Sikandar. While the censor certificate lists it as 2 hours 30 minutes and 8 seconds (150.08 minutes), exhibition sources claim the final version is shorter, 2 hours 15 minutes and 46 seconds.
The censor certificate was issued to the makers on March 21 after final changes were made, the publication added.
A film must earn twice its budget to be considered a clean hit. Sikandar, made on a ₹200-crore budget, has a target of ₹400 crore net in India. If it hits that mark, it will become Salman Khan’s highest-grossing film at the domestic box office.
The makers of Sikandar have chosen an unusual Sunday release on March 31. Widely popularised as an Eid 2025 release. But, a source close to the team revealed to Bollywood Hungama that March 30 also aligns with the Gudi Padwa holiday, especially significant in Maharashtra. This is followed by Ramzan Eid on Monday, March 31, ensuring strong footfalls during the festive period.
The source added that a post-Eid holiday effect is expected to extend through Tuesday and Wednesday across several regions.
Moreover, the film’s collections are projected to get another boost on Friday and maintain momentum until Sunday. Backed by this strategic release window, the makers are confident of a powerful opening week at the box office.
In Sikandar, Salman Khan pairs up with Rashmika Mandanna, who delivered blockbusters like Animal and Pushpa 2. Khan, fondly called Bhai by his fans, plays a messiah in the movie. He fights corrupt politicians.
The trailer was released on March 23. Salman Khan plays Sanjay Rajkot, Rashmika Mandanna plays Saisri and Sathyaraj (Kattappa in Baahubali) plays Minister Pradhan.
The interest in “Sikandar” is sky-high on Google India during March 24-25 after the trailer launch of the Salman Khan movie:
Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi and Prateik Babbar also play major roles in the movie. The action drama is directed by A. R. Murugadoss, who delivered Ghajini, one of Aamir Khan blockcusters.
Sajid Nadiadwala, the owner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, is the producer of the movie. This year, there are four movies in the pipeline from the Bollywood production house.
There’s Sanki with Ahan Shetty, Baaghi 4 starring Tiger Shroff and Housefull 5, which stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Bobby Deol, Nana Patekar and Jackie Shroff.
