Salman Khan’s comment about his 31-year age-gap with Sikandar heroine Rashmika Mandanna received a reaction from Bollywood singer Sona Mohapatra.
Salman Khan said, "Bolte hah 31 years ka age difference hah hero-heroine me. Arree jab heroine ko koi problem nhi hah. Heroine ke father ko koi problem nhi hah, tumko kyu problem hah bhai (They say that hero-heroine have age difference of 31 years. When the heroine has no problem, the heroine's father has now, then what's your problem, brother?)."
To this, Mohapatra tweeted, “...garbage response on being asked about the out of context 31 year gap with his leading lady-the ‘BHAI’ of toxic masculinity, patriarchy doesn’t realise that #India has changed?”
This is not the first time Sona Mohapatra took a jab at Salman Khan, fondly called by his fan ‘Bhaijaan’. In 2019, she reacted to Salman’s comments about Priyanka Chopra Jonas leaving his movie Bharat.
While promoting his film, Salman Khan implied that Priyanka had left due to her wedding to Nick Jonas.
Mohapatra slammed his remarks on social media, saying Priyanka had better things to do and called Salman a “poster child of toxic masculinity”.
She also referred to Khan’s behaviour during the interview with co-star Katrina Kaif. Sona stressed the need to call out such behaviour to bring change. She called it “low brow dig at not
only a woman who was not in the room but a disgusting disregard and contempt for the woman and colleague (Katrina) sitting next to him in the same room”.
“Unless we call out such serial bad behaviour, nothing changes,” she wrote.
Last time, she allegedly received death threats for her remarks on Bhaijaan. This time, too, her critique of Salman Khan got a lot of backlash on social media.
“har jagah apna gyaan kyu le k aate ho?? Apply where it’s needed! If you want to give so much wisdom, give it to your husband who gave music in a movie like Delhi Belly!” wrote one user while referring to Mohapatra’s husband music director Ram Sampath.
“What's ur problem, if you have that much problem with him don't watch or listen his statement and if you do pls don't pass ur statement. You do ur job, eat , sleep and make money that's it,” wrote one user.
“if the heoine doesn't have an issue, why does anyone else bother? After all, he's playing a character as a professional artist .. I don't see any toxicity here .. !!” remarked another.
One user commented, “It has nothing to do with what you think. Both of them are adult and have no issues working together especially when Rashmika and we all know Salman’s age.”
“Random people show up trying to get famous by taking Salman Khan’s name. Just get a life or get lost,” came from a Salman fan.
The interest in “Sikandar” is sky-high on Google India during March 24-25 after the trailer launch of the Salman Khan movie:
