India vs South Africa 4th T20I highlights: Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma madness headline India's 135-run win

Suryakumar Yadav (India captain): There's no secret to adapting to the conditions. Our plans were very clear as soon as we landed in Durban. Though we were up 2-1 in the series, today we wanted to follow the good habits and not worry about the result. It happened naturally. It's very difficult for me to choose one good knock from them, we spoke about that and they literally walked the talk. When we toured last year, we knew there was something in this wicket once the lights were on and the temperature dropped. It gives a big boost if you are winning any ICC tournament. It was difficult to sum up what goes through our minds when we won there. It is very challenging when we tour South Africa, this is a special win and will stay with me forever. They (coaching staff) were sitting and enjoying the show, they spoke to the boys and said whatever you want, you do, we will sit and enjoy. Even today, they said if you want to bat first and put runs on the board, do it.

Aiden Markram (South Africa captain): Quite hard to be honest. Completely outplayed in all three aspects of the game. Have to give them credit, bat and ball they put us under pressure and it was tough for us to come back. Some honest reflections need to be done. Nowadays you can't be just hitting stumps, you need to bowl wide lines and certain plans you need to come up with. One or two we might miss but it's part of the growth for this team and in the long run as we build up to 2026, we can hopefully get it right. It's busy. As a team we will have a good reflection, as a white-ball team we have some time off, get stuck into some work and ultimately come back better players with better skills and with better execution. It's up to each individual as to where they want to go and where they want to invest in. Marco Jansen was incredible this series, Gerald Coetzee as well, it's not easy in the Highveld, the never-say-die attitude from them and that's the bits and pieces we can pick up and move forward as a team.

Tilak Varma - Player of the Match and Player of the Series: Actually I wanted to tell one funny thing, last year when I played here I got out first ball. This innings was very crucial for the team and the series. [on his plans for today] Just want to hold my shape and followed my basics as to what I did in the last game, I was calm. It's an unbelievable feeling, I couldn't express it right now, I never imagined, that too two 100s in South Africa in challenging conditions. Thanks to our captain Surya for this. As I said last match, I was injured in the last few games, I believe in God and my process, that's why I celebrated like that to God.

Tilak Varma and Ramandeep Singh take the final two wickets as South Africa are all out for 148 in 18.2 overs. India win the game by 135 runs and take the series 3-1.

South Africa are in tatters as Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya pick three wickets more. While Arshdeep trapped Aiden Markram in front, Hardik got better of Ryan Rickelton. Ohh wait! Heinrich Klaasen goes for a first-ball duck. SA 10/4 (3)

India's total of 283/1 is the highest by any team against South Africa in T20Is. The previous highest was 258/3 by West Indies in 2023. 

After Sanju Samson, it's time for Tilak Varma as he smashes hundred for the second consecutive time in the series. In fact, Sanju Samson became the first player in 2024 to hit three T20I tons. Varma becomes second Indian and fifth overall to hit two back-to-back T20I hundreds.

Hundred for Sanju Samson with a four off Gerald Coetzee, his second in the ongoing series and third overall. Hundred in the first match, followed by two consecutive ducks and now another hundred.  

Everything has gone in India's favour so far and South Africa seemed to have given up. Both Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma are nearing hundreds. Can they reach the milestone? IND 230/1 (16)

200 comes up for India with another Tilak Varma masterclass. He has scored 26 runs in his last five balls. Another six in the over off by Gerald Coetzee, this time it's Sanju Samson on the charge. India vs South Africa 4th T20I LIVE: Nothing seems to stop Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson today as the duo attack Lutho Sipamla for three sixes in the over. 150 up for India. IND 162/1 (12)   

It's raining fours and sixes in Johannesburg as Sanju Samson. Meanwhile Tilak Varma has hurt his left shoulder by a Andile Simelane delivery. Varma goes down in pain as the physio comes running in. The magic spray is being applied and Varma is back on his feet to face next ball. He finishes the over with a six. IND 142/1 (11)

Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma ensure there is no short of entertainment in Johannesburg as the Indians are dealing in boundaries. Fifty for Samson too as India cross 100-run mark. IND 129/1 (10)

Not so good scenes in Johannesburg as Gerald Coetzee pulls up in his run-up. The South African pacer goes off the field with Donovan Ferriera coming in as the substitute.

Andile Simelane comes into attack and Abhishek Sharma welcomes the pacer with a huge six. 50-run stand comes between the two.  The India opener is dealing in sixes as he hits another in the next ball. Four more to India in the next. This is turning out to be a big over for India. Sharma finishes the over with another six. IND 68/0 (5)  

Sanju Samson isn't leaving opportunity go away. After samshing Gerald Coetzee previously, the India opener is proving costly to Lutho Sipamla with a 14-run over. IND 44/0 (4)

It's Samson power at the Wanderers. Gerald Coetzee bangs short and Sanju Samson wastes no time in pulling the South African for a six. Four more to Samson as India take 12 runs from the over. IND 16/0 ()   

Done with the National Anthems. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma will open the batting for India. Marco Jansen will open the attack for South Africa. Sharma was dropped at slips before getting hit on the helmet off  a short ball. IND 4/0 (1)

Finally, Suryakumar Yadav wins the toss and India have opted to bat first. Both teams remain unchanged. 

For the unknown, Suryakumar Yadav has lost all three times in this series. 

India vs South Africa 4th T20I LIVE: Although it looks unlikely that India will tinker with their playing XI, but can give a debut to Yash Dayal in place of Arshdeep Singh. We are just 15 minutes away from the toss.    

Varun Chakravarthy has been India top bowler in the series with 10 wickets. The likes of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller struggled against the Indian majorly. In fact, Varun's maiden fifer for India came in this series.  

Captain Suryakumar Yadav's form has been a concern for India. The right-hander had scored of 21, 4 and 1 in the last three T20Is and it's high-time he delivers.    

Interestingly, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma are the two Indian batters with hundreds in the series. In fact, the only five-wicket haul in the series came from India's Varun Chakravarthy
