India's star all-rounder Axar Patel on Sunday gave India the second breakthrough while playing against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at Dubai, when his stunning direct hit in the first innings sent Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq to the pavilion.
Axar Patel, in the 10th over of the first innings, caught hold of the shot by Imam, who shimmed forward and pushed the second delivery of Kuldeep Yadav. Patel charged in and hit the stumps directly, which resulted in Imam-ul-Haq's drastic runout.
Following this, Axar Patel dismissed Pakistan skipper Mohammad Rizwan (46) in his second delivery of the sixth over, as he bowled out Rizwan.
Pakistan have lost seven wickets till now, as they lost Imam-ul-Haq (10), Babar Azam (23), Saud Shakeel (62), Mohammad Rizwan (46), Tayyab Tahir (4), Salman Ali Agha (19) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (0).
For India, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets each, while Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja clinched one wicket each.
Until the last report, Pakistan have scored 200/7 in 43 overs after winning the toss, with Khushdil Shah and Salman Ali Agha are on crease.
In case Pakistan loose the match on Sunday against India, they will be knocked out of the tournament.
Earlier last night, Naqvi met the Pakistan cricket team at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, and urged them to win Sunday's crucial match against India "at any cost" to silence critics.
Pakistan enjoy a 73-57 head-to-head record against India in ODIs out of 135 matches. Five matches ended in no result. In Champions Trophy, Pakistan enjoy 3-2 lead over India.
