At least six people reportedly died after a small plane crashed in Philadelphia. Several videos of the crash circulating on social media showed massive explosion erupting when the incident happened.

A small plane — Jet Rescue Air Ambulance — crashed in Northeast Philadelphia 30 seconds after it took off as crews respond to a fiery scene, Pennsylvania’s governor was quoted by the Associated Press as saying on Friday.

Jet Rescue Air Ambulance released a statement informing that there were four (4) crew members and two (2) passengers (pediatric patient and escort) on board.

"At this time, we cannot confirm any survivors. No names are being released at this time until family members have been notified," the release stated.

According to the report, the Federal Aviation Administration said two people were aboard the plane, which was a Learjet 55. The plane, a small, business-type jet, was en route to Springfield, Missouri.

However, BNO news reported that at least six people died in the incident.

As per Flightradar24, "...a Learjet 55 (XA-UCI) crashed shortly after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport." The report stated that the flight departed at 11:06 pm UTC, reaching a maximum altitude of 1,650 ft at 23:06:54.

The plane possibly hit multiple buildings in the area. The crash happened less than 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, which primarily serves business jets and charter flights.

Photos taken at the crash site appear to show residential homes on fire.

The plane crashed in a busy intersection near Roosevelt Mall, an outdoor shopping center where first responders were blocking traffic and onlookers crowded onto a street corner in the residential neighborhood of Rhawnhurst.

The plane appeared to be a medical transport jet. The plane that took off and quickly disappeared from radar was registered to a company operating as Med Jets.

Philadelphia plane crash viral videos

A video shot on a dashcam and shared by BNO news showed a massive spark and smoke billowing out of the fire that was caused by the plane crash.

Meanwhile, one cellphone video taken by a witness moments after the plane crashed showed a chaotic scene with debris scattered across the intersection.

A wall of orange glowed just beyond the intersection as a plume of black smoke quickly rose into the sky, while some witnesses could be heard crying and sirens blared.

Another clip reportedly showed a "Ring doorbell camera video of the plane crash in Philadelphia near Roosevelt Mall at Cottman and the Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia".

The crash ignited a massive explosion, setting several homes on fire.

Meanwhile, RT shared a video on X that showed a witness of the plane crash shouting "in disbelief" — “Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! What the hell? What the hell? Oh my God!”
