Elon Musk's Tesla is currently under attack for various reasons and to add it, the EV maker is now facing major criticism for not paying sick employees at its factory in Germany.

German news website Handelsblatt recently reported, an unusually high number of workers at Elon Musk’s plant have called in sick. Responding to it, company has been sending them letters with the subject line: “Doubts about the submitted certificates of incapacity to work.”

What the letter said?

The letters threaten to stop payment of wages immediately and repayment of salaries already paid. Company also asked the employees to disclose their diagnosis for "every certified incapacity for work" and to release the doctors treating them from their duty of confidentiality.

A major German union on Friday also accused Tesla's factory near Berlin of a slew of wrongful practices against workers on sick leave, including refusing to pay them their salaries, reported AFP.

Tesla allegedly cited "debts" from overpayments to withhold salaries, the union claimed. It also accused the company of pressuring employees to sign mutual termination agreements.

How netizens reacted?

Netizens had some strong reaction to the news, with many saying that ‘Tesla is violating the law’ and Elon Musk's company should immediately leave Germany. Here's how some Reddit users reacted:

Oh, that strategy is not going to pan out for Tesla. Not in Germany, not in any other European country in fact.

Tesla is violating the law.. What a shock! Whoever receives such a letter should do 2 things:

1)Go to the next police station and file a complaint for coercion against the person who sent the letter and one against the company for fraud

2)Make a appointment with your doctor because of psychological stress caused by this illegal behavior.

You either respect German workers right and laws, or you get the fuck out of Europe. Ultra-capitalist scum.

This is why these US ultra capitalists can fuck right off out of Germany.
