US President Donald Trump on Friday once again reacted to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 saying that “it was a bad one” but India and Pakistan will “figure it out one way or the other”.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “I am very close to India and I'm very close to Pakistan, and they've had that fight for a thousand years in Kashmir. Kashmir has been going on for a thousand years, probably longer than that. That was a bad one (terrorist attack). There have been tensions on that border for 1,500 years. It's been the same, but I am sure they'll figure it out one way or the other. I know both leaders. There's great tension between Pakistan and India, but there always has been.”
“As President (Donald) Trump and Secretary (Marco) Rubio have made clear, the United States stands with India, strongly condemns all acts of terrorism," State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated on Thursday, adding, "We pray for the lives of those lost and for the recovery of the injured and call for the perpetrators of this heinous act to be brought to justice."
India took stern actions like suspending Indus Water Treaty, shutting Attari check post against Pakistan following the deadly attack. In his Bihar speech, PM Modi vowed that the terrorists and conspirators behind it will be punished beyond their imagination. “Today, on the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world, India will identify, trace and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth. India's spirit will never be broken by terrorism,” Modi said.
