A man was nabbed for defacing a cybertruck by painting Swastika in New York City on Thursday. The incident caught the attention of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who reacted and took a potshot at the Japanese car manufacturer, saying, “Crazy people. Naturally, he drives a Subaru."

Michael Lewis, 42, got out of his Subaru car when he saw Tesla truck parked on Washington Avenue, according to New York times. Lewis blocked Truck owner Avi Ben Hamo's way who spotted him doing the shocking act. He fled the scene and was later arrested when he was coming to take his car from the spot within 90 minutes of the incident.

X user named Collin Rugg posted, “Leftist arrested after drawing a swastika on a Cybertruck belonging to a Jewish man in NYC. The man saw the Cybertruck, got out of his Subaru & then drew the swastika. He fled the scene without his car & came back an hour later where police were waiting. The people carving swastikas on vehicles owned by Jewish people want you to think that you are the Nazis.”

Since the Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) started slashing government spending, there have been a series of attacks on Tesla vehicles, charging stations, with some calling it "Elon Derangement Syndrome".

“There was zero damage to the car. He did not commit a crime of any kind," Mark Luccarelli, lawyer of Lewis, was quoted by the New York Post as saying. He refused to apologise on behalf of his client, mentioning that the Brooklyn district attorney released Lewis with no serious charges.

Third incident of vandalisation

This becomes the third similar incident of vandalisation in a span of few days. Earlier, a tesla showroom was defaced in The Hague, while the other included pelting of eggs, smearing with dog feces a few weeks ago.
