New Year's Eve Traffic Advisory in Pune: Road diversions, drunk driving campaign and more strict restrictions on Dec 31

The Pune City Police have released a traffic advisory for today, December 31. They have highlighted roads advisory for roads including Pune Camp, Shivajinagar, Mahatma Gandhi Road , and Ferguson College Street are expected to see large crowds gathering for the grand New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Mahatma Gandhi Road, Lashkar (Camp) Complex

1. Traffic coming towards Chai Junction Dahan Mahatma Gandhi Road will be stopped at 15th August Chowk and diverted towards Qureshi Masjid and Sujata Mastani Chowk.

2. ISKCON Mandir Chowk to Dr Baba Saheb statue, to Arora Tower will be closed.

3. The traffic going from Volga Chowk to Mahmud Darfi Chowk will be stopped and will be diverted to Indira Gandhi Chowk via Sirgeist Street Road.

4. Jamari traffic will be stopped from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Mahavir Poufa and will be diverted from Indira Gandhi Chowk to Lashkar Police Station Chowk.

5. The traffic from Garpadyala Chowk to Mahar Chowk will be closed and will be diverted via Taboot Street.

Ferguson College Road and Jangli Maharaj Road

1. Traffic coming from Ferguson College Road, Kothrud / servie road will be diverted via Law College Road, Prabhat Road and Alka Talkies Dhauk which will be closed at Saunjibaba Chowk.

2. The traffic going to Fergusson College Road from Khandojibaba Chowk, Gudlak Chowk and other lanes on Jungli Maharaj Road will be closed at Jashi Rani Chowk and diverted through Pune Municipal Corporation, Omkareshwar Mandir and Shivaji Road as required.

3. There will be no vehicle zone from 5:00 pm on 31 December to 05.00 pm on 1 Januray 2025 on Fergusson Road :- From Goodluck Chowk to Fergusson College Maingate and M.G. Road :- 15 August Chowk to Hotel Aurora Tower

Drunk driving campaign

On 31 December, a special campaign regarding drunk and driving will be implemented by the transport department and action will be taken against the drivers who drive after drinking alcohol. Blow pipe (plastic pipe) one pipe (use and throw) will be used for one person during the said drunk and drive operation. However, citizens are being urged not to drink alcohol and drive. Strict legal action will be taken against violators.

Entry prohibitted for all types of heavy/heavy vehicles

As per the notification, in Pune city, from 00.01 on 31 December to 00.00 on January 1, 2025, all types of heavy/heavy vehicles (Truck, Dumper, Mixer, Bulker, J.C.V. Road Roller, Multi For axle vehicles) entry is prohibited beyond the following places inlcuding: Theur Phata, onwards from Lonikalbhor, Harish Bridge, Khadki, Bopkhel Fata, Vishrantwadi, Radha Chowk Baner, Navale Bridge Warje, Katraj Chowk Katraj, Khadimsheen Chowk Kondhwa, Mantarwadi Fata Fursungi, Markal Bridge
