Amid an ongoing blame game over the stampede at the premiere of Allu Arjun's latest film ‘Pushpa 2’ in which a woman died and her child got injured, some protestors on Sunday attacked the Telugu superstar's residence in Hyderabad.

A group of people who claimed to be members of Osmania University Joint Action Committee, threw tomatoes and vandalised flower pots and other things at the residence of the actor.

The protestors also carried a placard which read “crores of rupees are made by making films, while those watching films are dying.”

The protesters raised slogans against the actor and sought justice to the woman who died in a stampede, reported PTI.

Giving more details on the incident, the Hyderabad police while speaking to ANI said, “Today at around 4.45 pm, some persons holding placards in their hands suddenly rushed to the residence of actor Allu Arjun in Jubilee Hills and started sloganeering and one of them mounted the compound and started throwing tomatoes.”

“When the security staff objected and persuaded them to get down from the wall, they got into an altercation. They climbed down the wall, manhandled the security staff and damaged some flower pots kept along the ramp,” the police said.

The police have taken six people in custody.

“On receiving the information, Jubilee Hills Police reached the place and took the 6 persons into custody. They all claim to be part of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC). A case has been registered against the 6 persons and others who were involved in the said offences and stringent action as per law is being initiated against them all,” the police added.

While referring to the Sandhya Theatre stampede incident, the Telangana Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City, CV Anand has warned bouncers who misbehave with the police.

“In the recent incident of Sandhya theatre, we saw 40-50 bouncers and how reckless they are. There was public, police and everyone but they pushed everyone...They think only about the VIP,” Anand said while addressing the media.

“It is a warning to every bouncer that if they misbehave with the police, strict actions will be taken against them...The behaviour of the bouncer is the responsibility of the VIPs. They cannot blame the bouncer. The liability is on the VIP only,” he added.

The develoment came hours after Allu Arjun appealed to his fans to not resort to any kind of abusive language or behaviour, both online and offline.

“I appeal to all my fans to express their feelings responsibly, as always, and not resort to any kind of abusive language or behavior both online and offline,” said Pushpa 2: The Rule star in a statement posted on X.

"Misrepresenting as my fans with fake IDs and fake profiles, if someone indulges in abusive posts, strong action will be taken against them. I request the fans not to engage with such posts," he added.

“We are extremely sorry for the family, it is purely accidental. I was inside the theatre watching the film with my family and the incident took place outside the theatre, It was purely of no direct connection to me," Allu Arjun said while addressing the media.

“My love and respect to the family. I have been visiting the theatre for the last few years, I have been to the same place almost 30 times. Never has such a thing happened. It was purely accidental. I am extremely sorry for the accident that happened,” he added.
