Mahakumbh Mahashivratri 2025 Highlights: Over 1.5 crore devotees took holy dip on last Shahi Snan

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: Mahakumbh concludes in Prayagraj with final 'snan' on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

Till 9 am on February 26, for the convenience of Mahakumbh-2025 pilgrims, 115 trains were run from various stations of Prayagraj region. More than 05.62 lakh passengers traveled.

On February 25, 2025, 314 trains were run. More than 13.57 lakh passengers traveled.

Sharing his experience of taking holy dip at Sangam, the former WWE wrestler said,  “I liked it very much, and the experience I had of going to Mahakumbh was very peaceful. And I feel very light. I have two more days left, and I would like to tell everyone who has not done so yet that you must go and take a bath. You will feel light. So I liked it when I went for the first time and had a darshan of very good saints, took a bath, and brought Gangajal from there. It is kept at home.”

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: BJP leader and actor Mithun Chakraborty criticised Mamata Banerjee for her remark.

"What she is saying is wrong. 70 crore people have come here and took a holy dip, is that incorrect?... People have seen the power of Sanatan Dharam," Mithun said.

His remark has come in response to Mamata Banerjee's comments in which she rejected the claim that Maha Kumbh 2025 is happening after 144 years.

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: Maha Shivratri is celebrated to mark the wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. 

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva played a cruial role in the Samudra Manthan, which led to the emergence of the Amrit Kalash (nectar pithcher), which is the very essence of Kumbh Mela.

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: A devotee from London arrived in Prayagraj for holy dip on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. On participating in Mahakumbh, the devotee told ANI that it was once in a lifetime opportunity for her and she had cancelled all her plans to come to Mahakumbh 2025.

“... I feel so much joy and peace. You can feel the environment of the crowd, and it's amazing. Everyone is celebrating today. It feels more special than every other day than I have been here so far... I knew this was once in a lifetime opportunity and cancelled all my plans to come here. That's how important it is... People have been so welcoming and friendly, I am learning so many things about the culture and the importance of everyday ceremonies that happen,” said the devotee

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE:  A devotee from Brazil on Tuesday expressed her enthusiasm after attending the Mahakumbh. Regardless of coming from ‘very far’ Danielle, said that 

“We came from very far, and we are very eager to show all this to our people and our country. The whole Kumbh Mela is amazing... People are very friendly and welcoming... I got to know about Maha Kumbh from my boss who covered the Kumbh Mela 12 years ago. It was my first experience, and it was amazing,” Danielle told ANI

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: UP CM extends wishes of Maha Shivratri on Wednesday. He also expressed happiness as large number of devotees continue to arrive in Maha Kumbh on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri today.

“Maha Kumbh-2025, on the sacred bathing festival of Mahashivratri dedicated to the worship of Lord Bholenath in Prayagraj, heartfelt greetings to all the revered sadhus, saints, Kalpvasis, and devotees who have arrived today to take a dip of faith at the Triveni Sangam!,” wrote UP CM Adityanath in a post on X.

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: In Uttar PRadesh's Varanasi, famous Akhara procession in Varanasi will be taken out today to mark Shivratri celebrations. 

“The famous 'peshwai' of Juna Akhara and other akharas will be taken out today on the occasion of Mahashivratri. Lakhs of devotees have also arrived to offer prayers and take holy dip. The procession will be taken from Hanuman Ghat to Gate number 4 of (Kashi Vishwanath) temple. Monitoring is being using drones. Paramilitary forces have also been deployed on the procession route to ensure complete security,” said DCP Gaurav Bansal

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: A Ghaziabad resident Dhananjay arrived Mahakumbh after cycling 600 km as a mark of respect and devotion.

"I have come from Ghaziabad...I started on Sunday at about 3AM and cycled continuously to reach here. I took small breaks during my ride. I am also promoting Fit India Movement, which is a great initiative by PM Modi. Nowadays, people have a busy schedule, screentime has increased... I have come to Kumbh with a message that people should take out some time from their busy schedule to exercise and be physically active."

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: SSP Kumbh Mela, Rajesh Dwivedi told PTI on Wednesday that the management has implemented zonal schemes to allow devotees take dip at the nearest ghat to the route they are coming from and returning from the same route.

Explaining about Parade area, he said, “This is Parade area, where devotees are coming from city area... Since today is Mahashivratri, the Shiv temples in our Mela area will be thronged by devotees.”

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: The Maha Kumbh Mela will conclude on Maha Shivratri festival, which falls on February 26, 2025. The auspicious period for the occasion starts at 11:08 AM on February 26 and ends at 8:54 AM on February 27, Money Control reported. 

The final Shahi Snan will take place on February 26, and the most favorable timings for the holy dip are:

Brahma Muhurta: 5:09 AM to 6:59 AM

Twilight Time: 6:16 PM to 6:42 PM

Nishita Muhurta: 12:09 AM to 12:59 AM (midnight)

Mahakumbh 2025 LIVE: Deputy Superintendent of Police Yashwant Singh told news agency ANI, "We have increased alertness ahead of the Mahakumbh 'snan' on Maha Shivratri. Additional security has been deployed here, after which the total number of personnel deployed is more than 350. Barricading has been done all around. A holding area has been set up and passengers are being brought here," DSP Singh emphasised.

"We are making regular announcements for trains so that they stay aware. They are being given entry only after their train arrives at the platform. We are ensuring that the platform's passengers do not exceed its capacity. All arrangements are in place," he added.

Devotees continue to arrive in large numbers at Prayagraj's Maha Kumbh to take a holy dip. The final major bath will take place on Maha Shivratri, scheduled for February 26.
