Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Highlights: Scores of devotees arrived in Prayagraj to take holy dip at the Triveni Sangamon the occasion of Maghi Purnima on Wednesday, February 12. Purnima 'snan' concludes successfully, said the officials.
On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said those who were questioning the Maha Kumbh arrangements earlier are now secretly taking a holy dip, reported PTI.
Addressing a public gathering in Baghpat’s Chaprauli, he also said that by Thursday, nearly 50 crore devotees would have taken the sacred bath at the grand religious event.
More than 4.883 crore devotees have taken the holy bath so far, according to the official data. On Magh Purnima, devotees also took a holy dip in the Saryu river at Ayodhya while many proceeded to visit the Shree Ram Temple after their ritual bath.
Authorities have made several arrangements to manage crowd. Police have declared the entire Mahakumbh 2025 area as ‘no vehicle zone’ for Wednesday. Hence, entry of all the vehicles will be banned near the religious gathering in Prayagraj.
The day will also mark the conclusion of an integral tradition of Mahakumbh, Kalpvas. As per the tradition, devotees practice living near a sacred river for a set period of time, adhering to self-discipline, introspection and spiritual purification. Performing Kalpvas during the Maha Kumbh is considered auspicious.
Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday attacked the BJP government at the Centre over the alleged inconvenience faced by pilgrims who are trying to reach Prayagraj for the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, reported PTI.
Taking to X, he wrote, "The people, fed up with the BJP's lies, are asking whether the railway minister of the BJP government promised to run 3,000 special trains for this Maha Kumbh or the next one 144 years later in 2169."
Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said Sanatan Dharma is the foundation of global humanity and not only India but also the entire world will be safeguarded if it remains secure, reported PTI.
Addressing a felicitation ceremony for Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vidushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam of the Sringeri Sharada Peeth at the Gorakhnath Temple, he said, as quoted by PTI, "No other tradition offers the same level of liberty, openness and ease as Sanatan Dharma."
Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: Over than 46.25 crore people have taken holy dip till 6pm today, according to UP's information department.
“Record number of bathing on Maghi Purnima in Maha Kumbh, more than 2 crore people bathed today,” it said, according to ANI.

"Some people did not like the organisation of the Kumbh. These are the same people who quietly took the Covid vaccine while discouraging others to do so," PTI quoted Adityanath as saying.
"Now, they are secretly taking a dip at the Sangam while trying to dissuade the public from going there," he added.
Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: Amidst the Magh Purnima 'snan' at the ongoing Mahakumbh, a devotee from Australia who took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj on Wednesday, reported ANI.
"Words cannot define my happiness and gratitude of being here...This is an experience for a lifetime...," ANI quoted the devotee from Australia as saying.
Another foreigner said, "This was an incredible opportunity to take a holy dip in the River Ganga and find inner peace here...Its such a blessing. it is incredible to see how many people can take the sacred dip in the Ma Yamuna, Ma Ganga, Ma saraswati. Incredible, incredible"
Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: Over two crore devotees took a dip in the Sangam till 6 pm on Wednesday on the occasion of Maghi Purnima during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, reported PTI quoting officials.
The government in the statement said that by 6 pm, over two crore people had taken the ritual dip at the Triveni Sangam and other ghats, added the report.
Overall since the start of the Maha Kumbh, over 47 crore people have taken a dip in the Sangam, it said.
Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to approach religious leaders for ways to deal with the climate challenge, and for this the State government, in partnership with the International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology (iFOREST), will host ‘Faith of Kumbh and Climate Change’ at the Maha Kumbh on February 16, reported PTI.
On being asked why religious leaders have been approached for the conclave, UP Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar said, as PTI quoted, “Because these dharma gurus are thought leaders too who have the power to influence societal consciousness.”
Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government, under CM Yogi Adityanath, is not disclosing correct death toll figure in Maha Kumbh stampede, reported PTI.

Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: On successful completion of 'Maghi Purnima snan' at Prayagraj, UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said, as quoted by ANI, “Today, on the occasion of Maghi Purnima, crores of people are taking a dip in the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. This is the new Uttar Pradesh, with a population of 25 crores and till yesterday, 50 crore people have taken a holy dip in Prayagraj.”
Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: Around 1.60 crore people took a dip at the Sangam till 12 pm on Wednesday on the occasion of Maghi Purnima during the Maha Kumbh mela in Prayagraj, ANI quoted the Uttar Pradesh government saying in a statement.
With the Maghi Purnima bath, the month-long Kalpavas will also end and around 10 lakh 'Kalpvasis' will start leaving the Maha Kumbh, added the report.

Mahakumbh Magh Purnima Live: On the security arrangements made by the Uttar Pradesh administration for the ‘Maghi Purnima’ snan, Prayagraj DM Ravindra Kumar Mandar said, as quoted bu ANI, “More than 322 civil officers, more than 9 thousand forces, and more than 60 RAF companies have been deployed. The traffic police have also been deployed in large numbers.”
“Mela special trains and other trains are running normally. This is a historic occasion. On the instructions of the CM and the Administration, we are fully committed that people do not face any problems. Special arrangements have also been made to ease the traffic jams that were there in the last few days. So far, more than 40 crore devotees have taken a dip,” said Mandar.

Approximately 46 to 47 crore people have visited the MahaKumbh till now.
