Mahakumbh 2025: President Droupadi Murmu on February 10 took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj during the ongoing Mahakumbh 2025. After taking the holy dip, President Murmu also offered prayers at Triveni Sangam--which is a confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati.

Prior to her, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with his family, visited Prayagraj, where he took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam. Sangam is the confluence of the Ganga, the Yamuna and the mystical Saraswati rivers.

Maha Kumbh, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13), is the world's largest spiritual and cultural gathering, attracting devotees from across the globe. It will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.

On February 9, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar also participated with his family. Taking to X, he wrote, “I participated in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, with my family and took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam. I am truly happy to have the opportunity to participate in the Maha Kumbh, which takes place once in 144 years.”

In addition to this, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav also took a holy dip at the Sangam on February 8.

Several leaders, including PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Yogi Adityanath, are participated in the ongoing Mahakumbh, among others.

 

 

Prayagraj Sangam Railway station to reopen for passengers

Prayagraj Raj Sangam station of Northern Railway Lucknow Division will remain closed for passenger movement from 1:30 pm on 9 February to 12:00 midnight on 14 February, as per the order of Prayagraj District Administration. Prayagraj Sangam railway station was closed due to excessive crowd outside the station. Severe traffic congestion, stretching for kilometres, was reported on the routes leading to the Maha Kumbh Mela on Sunday.

‘Mahakumbh is not a hub of glamour…’ Mahant Dharmendra Das

A section of the sadhus are unhappy with the chatter around viral sensations at the Maha Kumbh, saying they divert attention from what the festival is really about — spirituality and faith of devotees.

"Mahakumbh is not a hub of glamour and five-star culture, it is the centre of sadhus, devotees and the Sanatan faith," said Mahant Dharmendra Das, head of Udasin Akhara Bandhua Kala Cantonment and chairman of All India Udasin Communal Sangat.
