Saif Ali Khan attack news: As many as nineteen fingerprints of the attacker were found in Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan's Bandra residence after the knife stabbing incident, Mumbai Police said on Monday.

The Main accused Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, who falsely identified himself as Vijay Das, had travelled to Bengal from Bangladesh six months ago after crossing the Dawki river, a police official told Indian Express.

Police caught him after more than 36 hours of search and investigation in the Saif Ali Khan attack incident. The police have found fingerprints on multiple locations at Saif Ali Khan's residence after the attacker escaped from the crime spot, reported PTI

Fingerprints on the bathroom window, duct shaft, and ladder

According to PTI, police officials have found multiple fingerprints of the attacker at the crime spot. Fingerprints were found on the duct shaft, ladder, and bathroom window, the official told PTI.

“The local police and Crime Branch visited the actor's Satguru Sharan building and collected fingerprints as part of the probe. The forensic team also visited the building,” the official said.

Attacker hid in the garden for two hours after crime

Soon after stabbing Saif Ali Khan with a knife multiple times, the attacker left the house and continued to hide in the garden located close to Saif Ali Khan's apartment.

“After committing the crime (On January 16), Fakir hid in the garden inside the Satguru Sharan building where Saif Ali Khan lives with his family for around two hours as he was afraid of getting caught,” PTI quoted the official.

Fake Aadhaar Card to get a sim card

Months after living in India and surviving by doing odd jobs, the attacker used the Aadhaar card of a West Bengal resident to get a SIM card. His sim card was registered in the name of ‘Khukumoni Jahangir Sekh’, reported IE.

Who was the attacker who stabbed Saif Ali Khan?

Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir is a native of Khalokathi district in Bangladesh who has lived in Mumbai for five months. According to PTI, citing officials, he survived in the metro city by doing odd jobs associated with a housekeeping agency.

The ‘Hum Tum’ actor was repeatedly stabbed multiple times by the intruder inside his apartment in Satguru Sharan building in upscale Bandra on Thursday. Khan was later rushed to Lilavati hospital by his children in an autorickshaw. The Bollywood actor underwent surgeries for the injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
