Though the reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained, the official said that the driver of the BEST Electric Bus (MH-01, EM - 8228) lost control over the wheel and dashed into pedestrians as well as 30 to 40 various types of vehicles.

As per the police, the bus lost control just 100 metres from the starting point and came to a halt only after ramming into the gate of Dr Ambedkar Nagar housing complex near the BMC's L-ward office, the HT report added.
