LPG cylinders price hike in March: Oil marketing companies have increased commercial Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders rate across Indian cities by ₹6 in March.

After March's commercial LPG cylinder price hike, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder is increased from ₹1,797 to ₹1,803.

LPG cylinder price in metro cities

The recent LPG gas cylinder price hike is likely to erode the benefit to hotels, restaurants and other commercial entities after OMCs reduced commercial LPG gas cylinders prices by ₹7 in February.

Commercial LPG gas cylinder prices were increased by a whopping ₹352 in March, 2023. The domestic LPG gas cylinder prices have remained steady for months.

New cylinder prices will be applicable to 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinders. They are mainly used for commercial purposes in hotels, restaurants, and other businesses.

LPG prices may vary from state to state, mainly because of difference in local taxes and transport costs. The recent price hike is unlikely to affect businesses across the country because of two reasons: first the price reduction is marginal, second it will erode the marginal benefit from February's LPG price revision.

LPG cylinder price hike: Domestic LPG cylinders price

Domestic LPG cylinders prices are unchanged, as per OMC's LPG price revision for March. The rates for 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders have remain unchanged since August 2024.

The LPG gas cylinder rates have been revised as a part of monthly rate revision exercise based on changes in global crude oil rates and other factors.

Impact of LPG gas cylinder price hike

The price hike is likely to increase the input cost of restaurants, hotels and other commercial establishments. Since the price hike has come just a month after LPG price reduction by ₹7, commercial entities are unlikely to pass on the price hike impact to consumers.
