Jammu and Kashmir News: At least six Indian army soldiers were injured in an accidental mine blast near the Line of Actual Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 10:45 am while a troop from the Gorkha Rifles was conducting a routine patrol near Khamba Fort.

The blast reportedly happened in the Makri area of the Bhawani sector, leading to immediate medical attention for the injured personnel, who were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

As part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system, the forward areas near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir are dotted with landmines, which sometimes get washed away by rains, resulting in such types of accidents, Indian Army officials told PTI.

Terror Attacks in Rajouri

In July 2024, a major terror attack took place at an Army picket in remote village of Rajouri according to PRO Defence Jammu.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district after suspected terrorists fired at a security post early on Monday, official sources said.

According to them, suspected terrorists fired at a security post in the Gundha area of Rajouri district at 4 am, and security personnel retaliated.

Following a brief exchange of fire, a cordon and search operation was launched, official sources said.

The months preceding July 2024, saw a spike in terror attacks in the Jammu region, including the terror attack at the army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Doda and Udhampur.

Sparse incidents reported included the Indian Army troops opening fire after suspicious movement near the Line of Control in the Sunderbani area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a separate incident, two Indian Army soldiers were injured in an encounter with terrorists in the Kastigarh area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir.
