J&K: Three terrorists have been eliminated in an anti-infiltration operation on the LoC in Keran sector of Kupwara, says Indian Army

Three unidentified terrorists were killed on Sunday as Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir.

“03x Terrorists have been eliminated in the ongoing anti-infiltration operation on the #LoC in Keran Sector, alongwith recovery of weapons and other war-like stores,” Srinagar-based Chinar Corps of the Indian Army posted on social media platform X (formerly twitter).

“An Infiltration bid has been foiled today on #LoC in the Keran Sector, #Kupwara. Operations are in progress,” said the Indian Army.

Jammu and Kashmir has seen a rise in terror attacks recently. These attacks have come during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in South Kashmir.

On June 9, the terrorists had attacked a bus carrying pilgrims in Reasi, after which it fell down in the gorge killing nine people.

On July 8, five soldiers were killed and eight sustained injuries when a group of heavily armed terrorists ambushed a patrolling party of the Indian Army in the Badnota area of Kathua.

On July 11, senior BSF and police officials from Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab discussed ways to share real-time inputs and further strengthen the anti-infiltration grid along the International Border in a meeting in Kathua district.

The high-level meeting, which was also attended by officers from central agencies, was held to bolster the security apparatus and to focus on enhancing coordination and synergy among the Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

More than 60 people have so far been detained for questioning in connection with the Kathua ambush.

In separate encounters, six terrorists were gunned down in the Kulgam district.

On July 2, security forces had recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation in Kupwara district.

Based on specific inputs from Kupwara Police, the search operation was launched by security forces in general area of Nangari Forest, Dardpora Kralpora, in the north Kashmir district, a police spokesman had said.
