Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 in Saudi Arabia: As Ramadan or Ramzan enters its last week, Muslims around the world are eagerly looking forward to celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, the joyous occasion that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-dusk fasting.

This year, Ramzan in India– one of the most sacred months in Islam – began on Sunday, March 2, after the new crescent moon was sighted on Saturday, March 1.

In Saudi Arabia, Ramadan began on March 1. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic year during which Muslims observe fasts or roza.

In India, since Ramzan began on March 2, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on March 31 or April 1, depending on the sighting of the crescent moon, which marks the beginning of the tenth month of the Islamic calendar, Shawwal.

The dates are decided by the sighting of the crescent a day before. So, if the crescent is sighted in India on March 30 after Maghrib prayers, Eid will be on March 31. And if it is not sighted on March 30, Eid will be on April 1.

Similarly, in Saudi Arabia, if the crescent is sighted on March 29 after Maghrib prayers, then Eid will be on March 30. Otherwise, it will be on March 31. Hence, in Saudi Arabia, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated either on March 30 or 31.
