Cyclone Dana Live: Flight operations resumed at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata at 0800 hrs, after it was closed for flight operation yesterday in view of the Cyclone Dana.

Cyclone Dana Live: Biju Patnaik International Airport here resumed its operation at 8 am this morning as the weather conditions became normal in Bhubaneswar, an official said.

The airport operation was suspended from 5 pm on October 24 in view of cyclone Dana which made landfall between Dhamra and Bhitarkanika from midnight to early morning.

Though the airport authority had decided to suspend flight operation till 9 am on Friday, the operation resumed at 8 am as the weather conditions became normal, said Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan.

Cyclone Dana Live: High tide waves hit Purba Medinipur, Old Digha beach, as the landfall process of Cyclone Dana began. 

Cyclone Dana Live: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that the state had identified more than 3.5 lakh people for evacuation from low-lying areas. Banerjee, along with senior officials, camped at the state secretariat overnight to monitor the situation.

However, the state administration evacuated over 2.5 lakh people till Thursday evening in anticipation of the severe cyclonic storm 'Dana.'

As Odisha experiences strong winds at a speed of 100-110 Kmph gusting to 120 kmph, the IMD said the landfall process would continue for the next 1-2 hours.

IMD in a post on X said, "The severe cyclonic storm "Dana" moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 12 kmph and lay centred over north coastal Odisha, about 15 km north of Dhamara and 30 km north-northwest of Habalikhati nature camp (Bhitarkanika)."

"It is likely to move nearly west-northwestwards across north Odisha and weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm by the forenoon of today, the 25th of October. The system is under continuous surveillance of the Doppler weather radar at Paradip." 

Cyclone Dana Live: Several trees were uprooted due to gusty winds and heavy incessant rains in the Bhadrak district of Odisha as the landfall process of Cyclone 'Dana' continues in the early hours of Friday.

Several roads were blocked in the area after trees were uprooted following strong winds and heavy downpours.

Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja says, "Chief Minister reviewed the cyclone preparedness and situation. All districts have been assessed. More than 6 lakh people have been evacuated and moved to cyclone shelters where cooked food is being provided. Electricity has been switched off, telecommunications have also been shut down till tomorrow. Several senior officers and ministers have been deployed by the Chief Minister. All arrangements have been made to deal with the situation."

IMD Update on Cyclonic Storm Landfall:

- The landfall process has commenced for the severe cyclonic storm.

- The storm is located pproximately 50 km east-northeast of Paradip, Odisha, about 40 km south-southeast of Dhamara, Odisha, and roughly 160 km southwest of Sagar Island, West Bengal.

- The storm is expected to move north-northwestwards. It is forecasted to cross the coasts of north Odisha and West Bengal between Puri and Sagar Island, close to Bhitarkanika and Dhamara (Odisha).

- The storm is predicted to have sustained wind speeds of 100-110 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 120 km/h.

- The landfall process is anticipated to continue until the morning of October 25.

The landfall of Cyclone "Dana" has commenced, with the forward sector of the wall cloud region making contact with land.

The landfall process is expected to continue until the morning of October 25th.

The IMD says it is continuously monitoring the system using the Doppler Weather Radar located in Paradip.

Cyclone Dana Live: ISRO on Thursday said its satellites have been tracking the cyclonic storm 'Dana' that is approaching the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal, providing real-time data to aid disaster management efforts. 

"Cyclonic Storm 'DANA' is approaching the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal. ISRO's EOS-06 and INSAT-3DR satellites have been tracking the storm since October 20, providing real-time data to aid disaster management efforts," the national space agency said in a post on 'X'.

Cyclone Dana Live: Telecom service providers in Odisha have activated intra-circle roaming in seven districts which were put under ‘red-warning’ for cyclone Dana, PTI quoted State Electronic and IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling as saying.

The intra-circle roaming allows telecom operators to use each other's network and such an arrangement has been activated in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur and Cuttack districts since 8 am.
