The modern Indian restaurant specialising in dishes from Andhra and Telangana has a Ramzan menu featuring regional delicacies. There’s Pyaaz Ke Samosa, a crispy rumali roti filled with a spicy onion stuffing and deep-fried; Kheema Ke Samosa, stuffed with minced meat; Talahua Gosht, a slow-cooked, pan-seared mutton with aromatic spices; and the crowd-favourite Mutton Haleem. Enjoy the meal with Shami Kebab Paratha, where soft parathas are topped with mutton patties. End on a sweet note with Badam Ki Kund, an indulgent almond-based dessert, and the quintessential Sheer Khorma.
At the colonial-Mumbai inspired restaurant, Nksha, co-founder and chef Vikram Arora joined hands with home chef Farhana Soomar for a month-long Ramzan-special menu. There’s Mushroom Patti Samosa, Mutton Kheema Samosa, Chicken Russian Cutlet, Gosht Khichda, Bohri Murg Biryani, Sheer Khurma, and Kesari Paneer Jalebi to delight patrons. Some of the dishes use family recipes of Soomar, passed down through generations. They are available for dine-in and takeaway.
Waarsa, a premium dining restaurant with a focus on Awadhi food, has a unique and interesting Ramzan menu. Dahi aur Naspati ka Shorba, a yoghurt and pear broth; Murgh Pashtooni Shorba, chicken broth with warming spices; Gilawat ka Kabab, an Awadhi speciality; Bombay Bohri Boti, chargrilled lamb with spices; Jaituni Tandoori Jhinga, prawns marinated in olives and cooked; Raan-Namak Mandi, slow-roasted leg of lamb, among others. The vegetarian selection features Kathal ki Nihari, jackfruit in a Murshidabadi-style nihari gravy. The biryani options include Bhopali Dum ki Gosht Biryani and Hyderabadi Murgh Biryani. The dessert menu has Mumbai Ka Malpua with Chai Ice Cream, Double Ka Meetha, and Mawa Jalebi.
Food historian and researcher Osama Jalali has curated a Ramzan menu at the restaurant, Riwaz. There are rare regional finds, such as Dahi ke Long Chide, kebabs marinated in yoghurt and grilled; Murgh Chargha, a speciality from Lahore that is crisp on the outside and meltingly tender within; Zafrani Paneer Qaliya, a saffron-infused cottage cheese delicacy; and Chole Murgh, chickpeas and chicken. Throughout the meal, Jalali will narrate stories of each dish and how they came to be.
