Veera Dheera Sooran Box Office Collection Day 1: Chiyaan Vikram's action movie has taken the Kollywood box office by storm with decent show on first day, March 27. The Tamil movie directed by S U Arun Kumar was released in theatres on Thursday in standard and EPIQ formats, almost two months after its initial release date.

Despite the hype and stellar star cast, the movie is facing stiff competition with Mohanlal's film L2 Empuraan. The Mollywood film is setting new benchmarks and records after it raked in ₹22 crore on its release day.

Produced by Riya Shibu under the banner HR Pictures, Veera Dheera Sooran witnessed a decent opening and collected ₹3.2 crore on Day 1, film industry tracker Sacnilk reported. Tamil version dominated the box office earnings, raking in ₹3 crore while the rest came in from Telugu screenings. It registered overall 22.91 occupancy from Tamil screenings on Thursday. Veera Dheera Sooran's prequel will be released as ‘Veera Dheera Part 1’.

It is probable that the movie's collection was affected due to the cancellation of its morning shows. All early morning shows of Veera Dheera Sooran were cancelled as the Delhi High Court stayed the film’s release till 10:30 AM, according to NewsBytes report.

Delhi High Court order comes after Mumbai-based production company, B4U, filed a petition alleging that the film’s producers violated their contract. Asper the report, the producers sold the film’s OTT rights before its theatrical release.

Furthermore, multiplex chain like Cinepolis and PVR did not show the movie before 11:00 AM. Notably, North American premiere shows were reportedly cancelled as well, compounding the impact on box office collection.

Film trade analyst in a post on X said, “Fans mobbed @chiyaan at Sathyam during #VeeraDheeraSooran premiere show last night..He couldn't get back to his car.. So he took an auto back home..Meanwhile, the movie is getting Blockbuster reports everywhere..”

The analyst suggested that the movie received positive public reviews and stated, "Blockbuster reports for #VeeraDheeraSoora's first half. A SOLID RURAL ACTION DRAMA that is entertaining the audience," while giving it 4 star rating.
