Sikandar advance booking: Salman Khan's highly anticipated action drama Sikandar's big release is due in three days. Yet, the movie's advance bookings have surged to ₹8.81 crore, inching closer to the ₹10 crore mark.
The Sikandar movie would be released on March 30, which is a Sunday.
As per data by industry tracker Sacnilk, Sikandar has generated significant buzz ever since advance ticket sales began on Tuesday, March 25.
As of Thursday, 10:44 pm, Sikandar has already sold over one lakh tickets, bringing the total advance booking collection to ₹8.81crore. The majority of sales come from the film’s 2D format, which accounts for ₹3.5 crore with 123470 tickets sold across 1221o shows. The remainder is from IMAX 2D screenings.
Delhi and Maharashtra have emerged as the strongest markets for Salman Khan's Sikandar. Delhi leads with ₹70.83 lakhs in advance booking, while Maharashtra ranks second with ₹63.74 lakhs in advance sales.
While Salman Khan's Sikandar generated ₹8.81 crore so far, it is significantly less when compared to Mohanlal's movie L2: Empuraan. Although the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial opened with lower numbers than expected, the movie had already surpassed ₹50 crore in advance ticket sales.
"Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars in the country, and there is no competition between the two movies. I hope it becomes a blockbuster," Prithviraj shared in a recent interview, reported PTI.
The Empuraan director further added, "I will have no complaints if you watch L2: Empuraan at 11 am and Sikandar at 1 pm"
With three days still remaining for Sikandar's release, it remains to be seen if Salman Khan's movie can break L2: Empuraan's record.
Directed by A. R. Murugadoss, Sikandar features an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, and Khan. With the soaring advance bookings, industry experts are predicting a massive opening weekend for this action-packed entertainer.
Salman Khan is also preparing to appear in Atlee helmed action film. The movie's release, however, has been delayed due to budget issues, PTI reported.
In a group interview, Salman Khan revealed the news while suggesting that Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan may feature in the film beside him.
"He has written a very big budget action film. The film with Atlee is delayed; the budget is an issue for the film. I don't know who from the two (Rajinikanth sir or Kamal Haasan sir) will be in it," PTI quoted Salman Khan as saying.
