Delhi Elections 2025 highlights: The stage is all set for the people of Delhi to come out and vote to elect their new government on February 5. The poll day comes after a high-octane campaigning by the three major political parties for the Delhi Assembly Election 2025 ended on Monday evening.
The results will be declared on February 8.
As many as 1.56 crore voters can cast their ballots across 13,766 polling stations in the national capital. Of the voters, 83.76 lakh are men, 72.36 lakh are women, and 1,267 are third-gender voters.
Delhi Election 2025 Date
All 70 seats of Delhi will vote in a single phase on February 5. The Delhi election is a three-way contest. The three major parties—the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress—are in the fray.
The AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, won the last two Delhi Assembly Elections held in 2015 and 2020. Before AAP, the Congress was in power in Delhi for 15 years. The BJP has not been in power in Delhi for 27 years.
Delhi Election Result Date 2025
The votes in the Delhi election will be counted on February 8 to declare the results. In 2020, AAP returned to power with 62 out of the 70 seats in the Delhi assembly. The BJP won 8 seats. The Congress party could not win even a single seat.
In 2015, the AAP swept 67 of the 70 seats at stake, while the BJP won the remaining three.
Key Candidates
Among prominent candidates, former Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is contesting from the New Delhi seat. The BJP has fielded Parvesh Verma, a former Member of Parliament and the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, against Kejriwal. The Congress party has nominated Sandeep Dixit, the son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, from the same seat.

Delhi Election News LIVE: An FIR was registered against Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday amid continued outrage over his ‘Yamuna poisoning’ allegations. The development came mere hours before Delhi is slated to cast its ballots for the Assembly elections. The AAP had accused the ruling BJP in Haryana of intentionally draining industrial waste into the Yamuna — with Kejriwal alleging last week that the party was trying to kill people by "mixing poison" in the river.

Delhi Election News LIVE: Special Crime Branch's Special CP Devesh Chandra Srivastava said that 14 proclaimed offenders had been caught and 25 FIRs had been registered in connection with the violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
“We have caught 14 proclaimed offenders...we have registered 25 FIRs in connection with the violation of MCC...in the last 24 hours, we have arrested 340 people under various sections of BNSS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita). Delhi Election News LIVE: AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi met the Election Commission on Tuesday. They raised concerns over alleged intimidation tactics being used in the national capital ahead of the assembly polls. The former chief minister also alleged that attempts were being made to suppress voter turnout, particularly among slum dwellers.
“We told the EC how Delhi Police is being misused for violence and intimidation. Many people are scared, and it is possible that they may not come out to vote due to fear. There are reports that people’s fingers are being marked with black ink in an attempt to disenfranchise them, and that money and threats are being used to influence voters. We raised these concerns with the EC,” Kejriwal said.
