Pune election results 2024 LIVE Updates: Maharashtra deputy Chief Minister and NCP president Ajit Pawar on Saturday won from his traditional Baramati assembly constituency by defeating his nephew and NCP (SP) candidate Yugendra Pawar by more than one lakh votes.

Pune election results 2024 LIVE Updates: The elections to 288 constituencies in Maharashtra were held on November 20 and counting is underway.

Pune election results 2024 LIVE Updates: Jay Pawar discussed the possibility of his father becoming Maharashtra Chief Minister as the Mahayuti appeared set for a landslide win.

“Of course, even I feel the same way...About the results, the elder leaders will take that decision. But every Baramatikar does want to see Dada as the chief minister…I am really happy with the results. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our voters because they all have entrusted the Mahayuti again. In the next five years, we all will work hand in hand for the progress of the state and our Taluka...All the Baramatikars are Dada's and my family and as they gave respect to Saheb during Lok Sabha (polls) they have respect to Dada during Vidhan Sabha because they know the work he has done for the Taluka,” he told ANI.

“The reason for the victory is the development role of PM Modi in 'sabka saath sabka vikas' and the decisions taken by the Maharashtra government in the last 2.5 years. A lot of those decisions were anyway great, but the Ladki Bahin (yojana) decision was definitely revolutionary... We are confident that we can get up to 225-230 seats,” he told ANI.

He trailed by Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Chandrakant Mokate.

“As per the ECI guidelines, we have made a three-tier security arrangement here. There are inner-middle and outer cordons placed here...We are checking everyone, mobile phones are not allowed inside. Around 250 jawans and 20 officials are present here today,” Pune Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sudarshan Rathore told ANI.

From Khadakwasla seat, BJP legislator Bhimrao Tapkir is the candidate against Sachin Dodke of NCP (SP). In Hadapsar, NCP's Chetan Tupe has been fielded. In Shivajinagar, BJP's Siddharth Shirole is in fray.

In Pune Cantonment, BJP's Sunil Kamble is contesting against Congress' Ramesh Bagwe. Chandrakant Patil of the BJP is the candidate from Kolhapur.
